17 June 202317/06/2023 – Towards the end of the NRHA Germany Non Pro Breeders Derby finals concluded yesterday in the de Ostbayernhalle in Rieden-Kreuth (GER) the excitement rose, especially for the Belgian entries. With only 4 more entries to go, youth rider Jody Fonck (BE) and the 7-year-old gelding Smart Spooky Joe [Lil Joe Cash] entered the arena, vying for both the € 3.900 added L2-, the € 7.200 added L3-, the € 17.100 added L4- and the Youth title. At that moment Justin Ketterer (GER) and the 11-year-old stallion Jacs Electric Snap [Jacs Electric Spark] were leading in both L4, L3 and L2 with a 216,5, followed by Siebe van Bekhoven (BEL) and the 8-year-old gelding WS Check My Pedigree [Wimpys Smoking Gun] with a 216,0. The spins that Jody performed could have been a bit better, but she did not fail the other maneuvers and got her credits. Posting a 217,0 she did not only take over the lead in both L4, L3 and L2 but also secured the title in the Youth division. Jody stayed in the lead until the very last entry: Michelle Meibaum (GER) and the 11-year-old stallion Star Sailor Whiz [Star Spangled Whiz]. Meibaum left nothing to chance. After a fantastic performance she claimed bot the L4, L3 and L2 Derby Champion title posting a 222,0. Reserve honors in all 3 divisions as well as the Youth Derby Champion title are for Jody. A great achievement. Jody: “I am very happy the way my run went and I found it quite exciting entering my very first L4 finals, but ‘Joe’ ‘helped me through it. He is a very honest show horse. He can be a little bit nervous, but he always tries his best and never lets me down, neither tonight, he did everything I asked for. I am not only very grateful to my parents that give me the opportunity to show such nice and honest horses, but also to the team and my friends that support me. I am very motivated to become as good as my parents in all aspects, so that one day I can take over the business in the best way possible ” Ann Fonck: “Step-by-step Jody will finally get there. This show was another great experience for her and it was of minor importance where she would end in the rankings. Learning and gaining trust are much more important. But don’t get me wrong, of course we are very happy with these results and very proud of her. If Jody goes on like this I can retire within 5 years ha-ha.”
Posting a 216,0 Laura Schmitz (GER) and the 9-year-old gelding Kangaroosta [Little Banty Rooster] claimed the L1 title and posting a 213,5 Stefan Löffner (GER) and the 5-year-old mare Stepup For Lil Gun [Lil Gun] took reserve honors.
